List Of Episodes For Miss Marple
Miss Marple was a television programme based on Agatha Christie's Miss Marple novels, first broadcast between 26 December 1984 and 27 December 1992. In this George Gallaccio production, where Joan Hickson was cast in the title role of Jane Marple, all twelve original Miss Marple novels were dramatised in a twelve-film series. The adaptations were written by T R Bowen, Julia Jones, Alan Plater, Ken Taylor and Jill Hyem.
In the 1940s, Ms Hickson appeared on-stage in an Agatha Christie play, Appointment With Death, which was seen by Agatha Christie herself, who wrote in a note to Ms Hickson later, "I hope one day you will play my dear Miss Marple". (In 1961, Ms Hickson played a housekeeper in Murder, She Said, the first film in which Margaret Rutherford played Miss Marple.) As well as portraying Miss Marple on television, Ms Hickson also narrated a number of Miss Marple stories on audio books. In the 'Binge! Agatha Christie: Hercule Poirot & Miss Marple' article of Entertainment Weekly Issue #1343-44 (26 December 2014 to 3 January 2015), the writers picked Joan Hickson as 'Best Marple' in the Hercule Poirot & Miss Marple timeline.
